Germany

Germany’s coastline stretches along both the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, offering a diverse mix of sandy beaches, dunes, tidal flats, cliffs, and modern maritime infrastructure.

On the North Sea, the Wadden Sea dominates the landscape, with its unique tidal ecosystem. Coastal towns like Cuxhaven and Büsum attract visitors with maritime museums and insights into traditional fishing culture. The East Frisian and North Frisian Islands—including Sylt, Norderney, and Amrum—are famous for their endless beaches and charming thatched-roof houses.

The Baltic Sea coast, in contrast, is defined by gentler landscapes. Here, historic Hanseatic cities like Lübeck, Rostock, and Stralsund showcase rich maritime heritage. Islands like Rügen, home to the famous chalk cliffs, and Usedom, known as the "Sunshine Island," are popular holiday destinations. Meanwhile, migratory birds find sanctuary in the many protected nature reserves along the coast.
